Frequently asked questions

Learn more about our frequently asked questions.

What is a boat club?

Unlike a rental facility, Oasis Boat Club is a premier, members-only community that provides unlimited access to a full fleet of boats for that leisurely lifestyle without the extra work of ownership.

Where is Oasis Boat Club Located?

Oasis Boat Club is located at two remarkable locations. Members enjoy full reciprocity of member access between the two locations:

The Wharf Marina, 650 Wharf St, Washington, DC 20024

Lighthouse Point Marina, 2780 Lighthouse Point E, Baltimore, MD 21224

Do I need a boater’s license or any other certification to join?

Every member is required to have a NASBLA-approved boating safety certificate. Copies of certifications will be kept on file for every registered driver. Members must have this on their person whenever they are driving an OBC boat.

How much does it cost to join the boat club? Are there any additional charges I should be aware of beyond the membership?

Like most clubs, we charge a one-time non-refundable initiation fee and a monthly membership fee. The only other regular fee associated with usage of the club boats is fuel. We send you out with a full tank of gas, upon return to the dock we will top the fuel tank off. The Club member will be responsible for fuel used during the outing.

Can I sign up for Oasis Boat Club online?

Yes. Becoming an Oasis Boat Club member online is easy. Once you complete the form below, one of our team members will reach out shortly with all the information you need to begin your adventure.

Will I receive any training?

Safety is key. Whether you’re new to the hobby or a seasoned pro, all members will receive complimentary classroom and on-the-water training done by a combination of USCG Captains and our professional instructors. Our trainers will take as much time as customers need/want to become comfortable with the vessels.

How do I make a reservation? Do you allow walk-ins?

You can view availability and make reservations through our online portal. Part of your member training will include learning how to use the reservation system. For the best experience, we recommend that you make a reservation at least 24 hours in advance. We may be able to accommodate day-of reservations if there are boats available and staff members on-site.

Are there specific reservation restrictions? Can I reserve a boat for a full or half day?

Members have unlimited access to boats as defined by the terms of their membership level, as long as their reservation doesn’t overlap with another member’s. See membership level details for pricing and restrictions. On weekdays (Monday to Thursday), reservations last the entire day. On weekends (Friday through Sunday), reservations are limited to half days; however, members are welcome to reserve a boat for an entire weekend day by booking two back-to-back sessions. This counts as two separate reservations. Whether you’re reserving a boat for a half day or full day, we encourage you to record your planned pick-up time in the notes section of your reservation.

How soon can I get out on the water?

Once a new member has taken the online boating safety course, they must complete the classroom and on-the-water training courses (1-2 hours each). A new member can begin boating as soon as their training is complete!

How well are the boats maintained?

At Oasis Boat Club, our entire fleet of boats are well-maintained to ensure peak performance and uncompromising comfort for all our members.

Does Oasis Boat Club provide life jackets?

Yes. Every boat in our fleet is equipped with enough type II personal flotation devices (PFDs) to accommodate the maximum number of passengers that each boat can legally hold. PFDs are also called life jackets or life vests.

Anyone under 13 years old is required to wear a life jacket at all times. Members will be asked to provide the number of passengers under 13, as well as their weights. Passengers 13 years old and older aren’t required to wear a life jacket the entire time they’re on the boat, but it’s important for every passenger to know where life jackets are stowed.

Passengers interested in more comfortable life jackets can request type III PFDs in their booking notes. They will be asked to list how many type III PFDs they would like and the shirt size of the passengers planning to wear them. Providing this information ahead of time helps us keep your departure as quick and seamless as possible. If members do not include this information, their departure may be delayed.

What other amenities do Oasis Boat Club members have access to?

The Wharf Marina Amenities: With an active reservation, OBC members can access the Wharf Lounge, including restrooms and showers. Beyond the marina, The Wharf waterfront includes a wealth of high-end dining and shopping options, live music, and breathtaking views.

Lighthouse Point Marina Amenities: With an active reservation, members have access to the marina restrooms and boater’s lounge which overlooks the docks. Drift Bar offers exclusive discounts for Oasis Boat Club members.

What should I do about on-water issues, and do I need insurance?

For on-water issues or complications, members can reach OBC staff by phone or VHF radio. Our boats are fully insured for damage, including third party liability. Members generally are only responsible for paying any deductible that may apply if they damage a boat.

Are any water sports or activities restricted by OBC or local ordinances?

Yes, OBC Members are required to obey restrictions mandated by local ordinances. Some restrictions include where water sports activities like swimming, tubing, and fishing can be done. This will be covered during training and when briefed ahead of your reservation at the location of choice.

Is parking available close to the boat club locations?

The Wharf Marina: Parking Garage 2 is the closest available parking. Once you arrive, signal an OBC team member for access to the docks. Our boats are stored at the docks to the right of the Hell’s Kitchen restaurant (if facing the water).

Lighthouse Point Marina: There is a gated parking lot in front of the Marina which is pay to park. Free street parking is available along Boston Street.
